Although this was one continuous video, I separated them to make it easier for those who just want to see one part, as well as to make the speech more sharable.

Campaign Fundraiser Speech - June 2nd 2016

An alternative title for this speech could easily be "the sad state of our school system," as I detailed some of the disappointing things I had learned thus far about our teachers' and students' situations.

I do want to update you on a key piece of information which I alluded to in this speech, regarding Title 1 funding. Using Title 1 funds to hire Reading Specialists is allowed. The point here is that hiring a couple of specialists who are shared amongst mutliple classrooms, although it may help somewhat, does nothing to improve the student to teacher ratio, which is the major problem. The Title 1 funds are supposed to help bring that ratio to the goal of 1:17. None of the classes at North Elementary meet this ratio, only one comes anywhere close (1:19), the rest are in the 1:25 range. Like every other issue in this campaign, there may a way to allocate these funds to better serve our students.

Bushy Fork Grange Hall Political Forum - September 8th 2016

While some candidates focused on personal anecdotes, the purpose of my speech is to inform our voters about the issues which impact our teachers and students.

PC Pride Candidate Forum - October 6th 2016

I gave a slightly different speech, telling a little more about myself before going into the main topics. Although my time was limited, I managed to at least touch briefly on all of the main topics I have ever addressed in my speeches.

Roxboro Jaycees Candidate Forum - October 11th 2016

The format for this forum was slightly different. We each had the opportunity to give a two-minute "stump speech," and then had two minutes to answer each of three questions. The questions were:

What impact has the Earl Bradsher preschool had on closing the achievement gap within the Person County School System?
In light of the recent school shooting at Townville Elementary, do you feel that all schools in Person County, not just middle and high schools, staff a School Resource Officer?
What should be done to help teachers and administrators address students with mental health disorders?
